Addressing the City Council
San Carlos City Council Meetings
The San Carlos City Council meets on the second and fourth Mondays of the month, at 7 p.m., unless otherwise noted. Meetings are broadcast live on Comcast Cable Ch. 27 and Uverse Ch. 99, and are streamed on the internet on the night of the meeting. Please click here to access live and/ or archived meetings.
Items Listed on the Agenda
The Agenda contains both a Consent Calendar section for routine business items that require Council approval, and general business items. The public may address the San Carlos City Council on any item listed on the agenda when Public Comments are called for during that item. Please fill out a yellow Speaker Slip and it submit to the City Clerk before the meeting or before the agenda item is heard. This will ensure that your name is called for the item(s) that you wish to address and it will ensure the meeting runs smoothly for all participants. When the Council reaches your item on the agenda, the Mayor will open the public hearing and call your name. Please address the Council from the podium. Each speaker generally has two minutes to speak per item. The amount of time allotted to speakers may vary at the Mayor's discretion, depending on the number of speakers or the length of the agenda.
For your convenience, we have provided a copy of the Speaker Slip here. This document has been created using Adobe Acrobat software. You will need to download and install a copy of the free Adobe Acrobat Reader if you haven't done so previously to be able to view and print this form.
Items Not Listed on the Agenda
Please be advised that, by law, the City Council is unable to discuss or take action on issues presented during Public Comment. According to State Law (The Brown Act -Government Code Section 54954.2), items must first be noticed on the agenda before any discussion or action. However, the City Council’s general policy is to refer items to staff for attention, or have a matter placed on a future agenda for a more comprehensive action or report.
City Council agenda materials may be viewed at the City Clerk's office at City Hall, 600 Elm Street, San Carlos, and the San Carlos Library Reference desk, 610 Elm Street, San Carlos, on Friday preceding the meeting. The agendas and minutes are also available online. An e-mail subscription service is available to have the agenda and minutes automatically e-mailed to you once it is ready.
